Motor tube Assembly
These rocket building techniques are suggestions as to how to build a dual deploy rocket. Please keep in mind that even a well built rocket can fail.
Sanding the motor tube
Shock cord attachment - Centering ring notch cut
Set up for shock cord attachment
Attachment of shock cord to motor tube
At the end of this video the shock cord was wrapped on to the motor tube with electrical tape. This holds the cord tightly to the motor tube and provides for a strong attachment. It also works well as after the glue drys it easily peels off and can be removed.
Remove Electrical Tape - Inside fillet of glue on Motor tube and centering ring
Another way to attach the shock cord eye bolt in the motor tube centering ring
Another way to attach the shock cord is to drill a hole in the motor centering ring and screw in an eye bolt with a washer on it glue the nut on and then glue this to the top of the motor tube. the shock cord is then attached to the eye bolt with a quick link. This works well on larger rockets
Making a glue brush to glue in motor tube assembly
Gluing in the motor tube assembly
In place of the west system epoxy you could use 15 or 30 minute epoxy
Rocket building and flying can result in injury. Please build and fly with care. You build and fly at your own risk. High power rockets of motor size H or larger require certification from Tripoli, the National Association of Rocketry (NAR), or in Canada Canadian Association of Rocketry (CAR). The membership to these organizations also provides you with liability insurance for rocket launches.
